Organisation of competitions and processes
The services of Regional Consulting in this segment comprise the preparation, organisation and implementation of competitions, expert’s and negotiation procedures mostly in the fields of city planning and architecture. In this context we offer the whole process of supervising competitions and negotiated procedures starting at the call for tender up to the advance test for decision making in one package. Furthermore, the elaboration of basic and preliminary studies is part of our service portfolio.

|
The Wiener Krankenanstaltenverbund intends to relocate the units of the „Gottfried von Preyer’sches Kinderspital“ to a new construction in the "Kaiser Franz Josef Spital". After demolition of the existing buildings the real estate is going to be developed. Proper uses are housing (incl. an alternative: assisted living), social infrastructure and local supply. To identify the best concept, the Wiener Stadtentwicklungsgesellschaft tendered an urban ideas com-petition with six participants RC was charged with the organisation of the competition as well as consultancy and pretesting.

| Architectural Competition Wien 22, Technology Centre aspern Seestadt |
|
One of the first projects in the urban lakeside aspern is the construction of a technology centre in three implementation stages. In sum appr. 32.000 m² gross floorspace will be developed. Special attention is to be paid to sustainibility, energy efficiency, economic viability and flexibility. Furthermore, an according signal effect shall be reached, that is commensurate with the importance of the building. Thus, via an EU-wide architectural competition urbanistic and architectonic solutions had to be elaborated. RC was responsible for organisation of the competition as well as parts of pretesting.

| Urban Ideas Competition Vienna 10, Eisring Süd |
|
The area of the former sports facility Eisring Süd is going to be developed. Besides a modern multifunctional sports facility, flats as well as accompanying facilities (local supply, child care etc.) will be built.
The City of Vienna (MA 21B) tendered an urban ideas competition with eight participants to identify the concept that goes best into the terms of reference, general conditions and local background.
RC was charged with the organisation of the competition (tender documents, contact point etc.) as well as consultant and pretester in the field of spatial and urban planning.

|
| Urban Quarter Lainz - Basic Study |
|
After more than 100 years as nursing home, a new use should be found for the geriatrics center "Geriatriezentrum am Wienerwald" (Urban Quarter Lainz). Thus the KAV has assigned the WSE with the appropriate utilization. As basis for later utilisation and development concepts a basic study had to be elaborated, which defines the exogenous premises for the development of the location (local supply, social infrastructure, leisure, transport, recommendations regarding mix and quantity of usage).

| Basic Urban Structure Ankerbrot-Area - Phase 1: Mix of Usage and Quantity Structure |

Due to a changed functional and economic framework, the Ankerbrot AG planned a relocation of the company. Thus, a new use for the area in the 10. district had to be found, whereby the owners of the real estate closely cooperated with the municipality and the district. In a 1. phase it was analyzed which mix of usage and quantity structure is acceptable for the area from the view of urban development and traffic. Basing on this concept further development phases should be implemented.
This survey will build the basis for an urban ideas competition (phase 2) and a real estate development competition (phase 3).

| Preparation of the Call for Applications and Tenders Regarding the Study: Effectiveness and Impact Assessment of INTERREG IIIC Operations on Regions Located in the INTERREG IIIC EAST Zone |

In the funding period 2000-2006 the community initiative INTERREG IIIC was a new strand in which interregional cooperation in the total territory of the EU was funded. A study, which should analyse, how and which INTERREG IIIC projects from all 4 zones (East, North, West, South) would contribute to the program objectives, was tendered in an EU-wide, two-tier process. The tasks of the consortium RC / RCi comprised the thematic structure of the study, a rough calculation of the expected costs, coordination of formal requirements of the tender, coordination of operative criteria for the selection process, set up of the entire tender documents including the terms of reference in English language and also the selection of bidders in the first step to come to a shortlist. Recommendations for the final selection for the study finalized the tasks of the consultants.

| Master Plan Flugfeld Aspern Competition |
|
Aspern - 200 ha at the former airport Aspern in the 22. Viennese community district - is a strategic zone for new development space between Vienna and Bratislava and also presents the biggest and available unseparated space for development in Vienna. The city of Vienna and representatives of the land owners commonly planned to develop a master plan for the step by step urban development. Regional Consulting was in charge of the competition organization and for the elaboration of the tender documents as well as the intermediate examination of the offers. Within the competition the best bidder in order to contract was identified.

| Negotiation process: Master Plan Bahnhof Wien-Nord |
|
In the framework of the Train Station Development Program the Austrian Railways Company intended to enhance the modernization and attractivization of the Station Wien Nord - Praterstern. In a EU-wide, two-step negotiation process the elaboration of masterplan for Wien Nord was allocated. Regional Consulting was in charge of the negotiation process. Goal of the process was the identification of the best spatial concept and the best bidder.

| Competition "Brewery Liesing" |
The former brewery area, owned by the Brau AG, in the 23. Viennese district was subject of a urban design competition supervised by Regional Consulting. The goal was to find solutions for the re-use of the area and its buildings. Furthermore, a masterplan in combination with the connection the "Liesinger Square" was developed.
